Event Overview: Join us for a dynamic afternoon of education and exploration at the Clean Energy Community Event on October 15th, 2023. Hosted by Cook County Local Energy Project, this event aims to empower individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and congregations with valuable insights into clean energy solutions and incentives to afford to install these technologies that can transform the way we power our lives and save you money in the long term. Best of all, it's a free event!

Event Schedule:

1:00 PM - 1:45 PM: Presentation by Bret Pence Grand Marais Public Library

At 1:00 PM, kick off the event with an engaging presentation by Bret Pence from MNIPL. Bret will delve into the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), highlighting its tax credits, rebates, and programs designed to significantly reduce the cost of energy efficiency upgrades and projects for your home, business, nonprofit, or congregation. Learn how to apply for these incentives and discover the discounts available based on your income.

1:45 PM - 1:55 PM: CCLEP briefly shares about the free services they provide for Cook County residents, including the Kill-A-Watt Meter Program, energy bill consultations, energy efficiency, or clean energy consultations. 

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM: Clean Energy Tour Starting Point: Grand Marais Public Library

Following the presentation, at 2:00 PM, our Clean Energy Tour will commence, taking you to various exciting Grand Marsis destinations where you can witness the benefits of clean energy solutions up close. Feel free to join at designated tour stops that interest you if you cannot attend the entire event. Here's what you can expect on the tour:

2:00 PM - Stop 1: Grand Marais Public Library: Discover the library's new air source heat pump system and learn how it operates efficiently even in a cold climate. Learn about available tax credits and rebates for purchasing and installing such systems and hear testimonials from staff.                                             

2:35 PM - Stop 2: North House Folk School: Visit the local folk school to witness their impressive new solar array system in action. Gain insights into the benefits of solar energy, its impact, and the incentives available for adopting solar solutions for a nonprofit.

3:00 PM - Stop 3: Local Residence: Learn about a residence that has recently embraced solar energy with the Duluth & Arrowhead Regional Solar Co-op. Learn about their experience, the process of going solar, and how you can follow suit.

3:45 PM - Stop 4: Great Expectations School: Wrap up the tour by discovering Great Expectations School's new innovative composting program. Learn how they're reducing waste and making sustainable choices for the local environment and more.
