If you install a residential or commercial solar power system in 2020, 26% of your total project costs (including equipment, permitting, and installation) can be claimed as a credit on your federal tax return. Projects completed in 2021 will be eligible for a 22% tax credit. The current tax credit incentive for residential solar is due to expire in 2022.
